Workshop : painting on sand crushed stones
Our visiting artist
, Philippe Moncorge paints with clay, sand crushed stones and naturel pigments glued on any support.
Year 6 and 7 at the college level as well as as a group from
Yr5-B in primary were involved in the art project on monday 22nd and thursday 25th during my three teaching hours.
- Preparation of the art room: I arranged a big working bench in the middle of the room covered with drop sheets, it already gave to the room an atmosphere of a very creative and working space. Students could also work around the bench freely.
- Resources: I have prepared beforehand different kinds of support such as cut out pieces of cardboard, prepared and raw pieces of masenite and all kind of paper.
The group of primary school children were told to bring some earth and sand for the monday workshop.
Philippe introduced himself and his concept to each group. The main objective was to be free, letting them free to experiment. However, I did gave some guidelines for students to create their idea of an abstact landscape using texture, pigments and crushed pastels.
- Students response: a very positive, enthusiastic and unanimous response from students, let's do it again, and awesome artworks!
Here are a few snapshots as well as some final products.
