IB CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service)

IB CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service)

In the IB program, students have to complete CAS (creativity, activity and service).

"This year we have started having bake sales to raise awareness for UN day… this year’s mission is global commitment to fulfil the great promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

All profits will go to ‘The Water is Life’ charity. The Water is Life charity has recently created a water filter straw that is a portable water purifier which can be used in any water source to provide clean and safe drinking water. The filter will be given to the weakest of communities because every day, water-related diseases claim the lives of 4,100 children under the age of 5. The filter will hang around the neck of a child to let him or her have access to water whenever in need. It is used like a normal straw and can clean up to 800 litres of water in total.

Once the straws are distributed in the community, a team will evaluate an additional pure water source option and develop a sustainable and integrated sanitation plan that includes hygiene education. This project has made us more aware of the problems and issues that occur around the world.

As part of the CAS course we are willing to put time and effort to help others, to raise money and consciousness for those in need. We raised over $90 this Monday morning for charity. We like to thank you all and we hope you enjoyed the treats.
In preparation for UN day, the other students are working on posters, small articles and a documentary about sustainability and other global issues, trying to get the school together to protect the environment.
